The First Step: Call Precision Air

A trained Precision Air technician will visit your home and conduct a comprehensive energy assessment. Please call or contact us to schedule your home assessment (home energy audit). Our technician will take inventory and report on the current conditions of your home. After the assessment, you will receive a report listing recommended measures, along with financial incentives available to pay for the recommended improvement work.

What Kind of Incentives Are There for Me?

You will have until June 30, 2016 to receive up to $4,000 in financial incentives (not to exceed 50% of the total project cost of the eligible measures) plus factory and ServAssure incentives. You also may qualify for 0% interest financing (up to $10,000) when you have energy-efficient upgrades performed on your home.

Please click here to view the New Jersey Home Performance with ENERGY STAR 2016 Fact Sheet which lists customer incentives.

Act Now!

The final project completion paperwork needs to be submitted to the program by 5 pm on June 30, 2016.

Home Performance with Energy Star Additional Tax Credits
Some energy-related home improvements are eligible for federal tax credits. Installation of a new geothermal or solar energy system generally qualifies for a tax credit equivalent to 30 percent of the total purchase and installation cost. There is no upper limit on this credit, which is in effect until Dec. 31, 2016.

For more information on federal tax credits for energy efficiency, please visit the ENERGY STAR Tax Credits page.

What's the Difference between a Home Energy Audit and a Home Performance Assessment?

Precision Air, as a BPI accredited business, can perform both Home Energy Audits and Home Performance Assessments. While some people confuse the two, there are very large differences in what the customer receives during and after the process.

Energy Audit: An energy audit is a visual inspection that focuses on energy efficiency. It can help you understand the energy your home uses, and evaluate which measures you can take to improve efficiency. We will point out measures you can take to solve problems that are currently wasting your energy dollars. Long-term savings on many of these remedies can be substantial. The audit may include hot water inspection, gas leakage, carbon monoxide spillage into the home, equipment efficiency levels, and more.

Home Performance Assessment (Comprehensive Home Energy Assessment): A home performance assessment is the highest level of energy analysis, and can be performed only by someone with specific testing and certification in several areas. The assessment takes 3-4 hours, and provides the homeowner a detailed cost-benefit analysis. A home assessment may qualify the homeowner for a Green/LEED/HERS or other rating. The assessment includes a complete visual inspection of all the components of the home, considers how they work together, and their effects on health and safety, building durability, comfort and energy efficiency, beyond that of a home energy audit. The assessment might also include advance pressure testing, heater, distribution and comfort diagnostics, IR, moisture and solar testing. A Precision Air Home Performance Assessment includes a "total system" inspection, including living space, attic, basement or crawl spaces. We will also perform computerized tests and give you a report including:
  • Health and safety (carbon monoxide levels and moisture problems)
  • Air infiltration rates
  • Insulation levels
  • Blower Door Testing to measure air infiltration rates
  • Thermal imaging (infrared thermography)
  • Domestic hot-water system efficiency
  • Heating system efficiency
  • Cooling system/Central air conditioning efficiency, if applicable
  • Lighting, if applicable
  • Major appliances, if applicable
These findings will be analyzed, and you will be provided with an outline of proposed improvements, including estimated costs and energy savings.

Schedule your home assessment now, by completing the form below.
